Prince Andrew makes a rare appearance alongside King Charles and Queen Camilla at the Easter service.

On April 20, Queen Camilla and King Charles III attended the customary Easter Sunday Matins service at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, London. Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, and his sister, Princess Anne, the Princess Royal, accompanied the 76-year-old queen, who is still undergoing treatment after being diagnosed with cancer in 2024.

For the monarch who holds the position of Supreme Governor of the Church of England, this yearly service continues to be a significant occasion in the royal calendar.

Warm greetings and a public appearance

After the service, King Charles and Queen Camilla briefly greeted well-wishers gathered outside the 15th-century chapel. Camilla, dressed in pale blue and carrying a posy of flowers, smiled and wished the crowd “Happy Easter“.

Prince Andrew’s rare appearance after Epstein & Giuffre controversy

During the Easter Sunday 2025 service at St George’s Chapel in Windsor, Prince Andrew, Duke of York, made a rare public appearance. This was one of his few official appearances since withdrawing from public life due to a string of scandals.

After missing the royal family’s customary Christmas party at Sandringham in 2024 due to fresh criticism over suspected connections to a Chinese spy, he made the appearance.

Prince Andrew has been avoiding public engagements for a number of years. Following intense criticism for his close friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, he resigned in 2019.

He settled with Virginia Giuffre in 2022 for an undisclosed sum of millions of pounds. Giuffre had accused him of sexual assault, which he has denied on numerous occasions. Andrew settled the civil complaint out of court in the United States, even though he claimed he never met her.
