In response to an X user, Union minister Satish Chandra Dubey criticized filmmaker Anurag Kashyap for his divisive statement on Brahmins.
“This vile scumbag @anuragkashyap72 thinks he can spit filth on the entire Brahmin community and get away with it?” Dubey stated in a post on X. I will make sure he finds no rest wherever if he does not promptly apologize in public. We will not remain mute in the face of this hateful gutter tongue.
Anurag Kashyap’s comment has drawn criticism in the midst of the ongoing controversy around the Pratik Gandhi and Patralekha film Phule. The film tells the story of Jyotirao Phule and Savitribai Phule, two well-known social reformers from the 19th century who led the charge against gender injustice and caste prejudice.
Kashyap issues apology
On Friday night, renowned filmmaker and actor Anurag Kashyap issued a public apology after making a provocative remark about the Brahmin community. Kashyap said, “No action or speech is worth your daughter, family, or friends.”
“This is my apology, not for my post, but for that one line which was taken out of context and the hatred that has brewed because of it,” Kashyap wrote in an Instagram post. Nothing you say or do is worth your daughter, friends, family, and coworkers being raped and threatened with death by the cultural elites. As a result, even though I will not retract what was stated, you are free to mistreat me as much as you choose. Neither my family has nor would say anything. Here is my apologies if you would like it. Forgiveness of women is encouraged by the scriptures, not simply by Manuism, Brahmins. Choose your Brahmin identity. Otherwise, I apologize.
