In the latest episode of Shark Tank India 4, Bindiya, a third-generation entrepreneur, presented her online tile platform, Tileskraft. She aimed to modernise her family’s business and impressed the ‘sharks,’ though they had some doubts about her model. Bindiya explained that she created a proof of concept on her website and wanted to develop an app to simplify tile buying. She sought the ‘sharks’ help and asked for Rs 60 lakh for 12 percent equity in her company.
Anupam Mittal praised Bindiya for her dedication as a woman entrepreneur in a male-dominated field. However, he questioned how her business model was different from her father’s, and both he and Peyush Bansal didn’t seem convinced by her answers.
Vineeta Singh understood that Bindiya was focusing on sample creation but decided to drop out. Peyush also withdrew, saying her business was too complicated. Other ‘sharks,’ like Aman Gupta and Kunal Bahl, expressed similar worries about her model.
Initially, it seemed like Anupam Mittal might make a deal, but he ultimately chose to back out. He shared some advice with Bindiya, asking, “Aap bhagwan pe bharosa karte ho? (Do you believe in God?) Vishwas yeh rakhna ki kabhi kabhi aap jo chahte ho woh na ho toh better ho. (Believe in this—that sometimes it is better to not get what you want).”
He said that the entrepreneur was still learning and needed to improve her business model before seeking investors. He warned that rushing to raise money could hurt her progress, so he chose not to invest. Although the Tileskraft founder didn’t get funding, her journey as a woman in a male-dominated field earned her respect from the Sharks.
While she left without a deal, her pitch showed promise for innovation in the tile industry, suggesting that with more work, her business could succeed in the future.
